District Edmodo Connections

This past month the topic of collaboration has came up often in the normally daily routine.  Some people say collaboration is not effective unless the individuals are creating a product to show the collaboration. There are a number of definitions out there on collaboration.

As I have pondered this thought....Collaboration is a ongoing interaction that happens between individuals that are working toward  a common goal.  One most be open and responsive to the new and diverse perspectives so that collaboration can occur to bridge the cultural differences.  Collaboration is more than that saying  "just play nice" our students need to know that you can work together and still be their own person.  Just because you collaborate with others does not mean you just blend in with the crowd.  In their future, just the opposite is true.  They must work well with others despite the time, distance, and culture differences.

Collaborations is more than just group work that happens sometimes, it really is a way of life.

When is the last time you worked on something totally in isolation?

What about your students sitting in your classroom?

What collaborations are they apart of  in your classroom?

Is it for learning or just social?
